16th - North and South
The 16th arrondissement is the largest in Paris, and is made up of four ‘quartiers administratifs’.
It has long been a preferred residential area for Paris’ middle classes,
allowing those who work in the city the chance to escape to a quieter neighbourhood but still retain its cosmopolitan feel.
The 16th is the home to some of Paris’ most popular restaurants,
that easily compete with their more centrally located equivalents - the Relais d’Auteil, for example, is an old favourite.
Among some of the area's more interesting architectural wonders is the Château de la Muette,
which was once used a royal hunting lodge.
Equally, the elegant mansions that line the streets of Porte-Dauphine make the area one of the most sought after in Paris.
An address in the 16th arrondissement is without a doubt one of the most desirable in the city,
and the area retains an air of elegance and refinement, away from the occasionally hectic city centre.
The serenity of this popular area is enhanced by its close proximity to the Bois de Boulogne,
one of the two forests which make up the so-called ‘Lungs of Paris’.
Unlike many of its more manicured green spaces,
it has a more rural feel which allows visitors to adventure away from the relentless bustle of city life.
Restaurants: L’Abeille and Le Pré Catalan are particularly well renowned,
but there are countless options both for residents of the 16th arrondissement,
and for those who make the effort to venture beyond the restaurants of the city centre.
