LES ÎLES
Île de la Cité and Île Saint Louis are the two natural islands situated at the geographical and historic heart of Paris.
Île de la Cité, the bigger of the two, is considered to be the cradle of Paris, with Gauls settling there from 52 B.C.
Home of the over 850-year-old Cathédrale de Notre-Dame de Paris, Île de la Cité features plenty of boutiques and cafés.
Île Saint-Louis, the more residential of the two islands, was once called the ‘Île Notre Dame’,
but is now named after King Louis IX (nicknamed ‘Saint Louis’).
The triangular Place Dauphine, on the Île de la Cité, is particularly picturesque,
as well as the Tribunal de Commerce, which was historically the sight of a candlelight property auction.
Boasting a wealth of good restaurants and views over the Seine, and the 4th and 5th arrondissements,
the Île-St-Louis is a highly sought after location for those looking for an exclusive property in the heart of the capital.
