5th - Panthéon / Plantes
The impressively vast Panthéon, located in the heart of the 5th arrondissement,
sits on the Montagne-Sainte-Geneviève and was constructed during the 17th century.
It remains a stunning testament to its architect, Soufflot.
It lies just a stone’s throw away from the iconic hub of many shops, restaurants and bars,
rue Mouffetard and rue Monge, which make excellent browsing for eclectic purchases.
Further east is the Jardin des Plantes, renowned for being a centre for academics studying flora and botany,
as well as housing the Natural History Museum.
Restaurants: The Grande Mosquée de Paris is situated in this area,
which has, as a result, a number of particularly good Arabic cafés and bakeries.
The rue Mouffetard and surrounding areas provide ample options for cafés and brasserie-style dining.
Metro: Jussieu, Place Monge, Censier-Daubenton, Gare d’Austerlitz
